At Pregnancy Care Center of Petoskey, our staff and volunteers truly want to serve each and every woman who comes through our doors. We never want a woman to feel as if she’s left alone in her decision to give birth and parent her child. To be successful in parenting, you need extra support, so we created Mother’s Keepers, a program specifically designed to give practical assistance to every new mother.

What is Mother’s Keepers?

The day-to-day activities of any mother can be overwhelming. Sometimes, it can seem like there aren’t enough hours in the day. Because we believe in offering family-led support, we created Mother’s Keepers. This program matches each family with a trained volunteer who completes acts of service within the home to “lighten the load” so family members can better bond with their new baby.

One of our many, caring volunteers will come to your home and help you with some of your daily tasks. Perhaps you need help with meal preparation, house cleaning or babysitting your older children while you take care of your baby. Mother’s Keepers is the perfect solution. The only requirement is that you must be present at all times.

We know it isn’t just about the physical needs of a new mother, it’s about the emotional needs too. Like we said, we’re here to support you in any way we can. If you’d like, you and the volunteer can take a walk or enjoy a cup of tea and just chat. Having someone to confide in can make all the difference for a new Mom. Mother’s Keepers services are free to all families with a child under one year old.

How else can you help me?

We believe highly in education and personal one-on-one support. We offer a wide variety of options for you to learn. Plus, we’ll tailor the education to specifically meet your needs. You can begin even before your baby is born to learn about taking care of your body, eating for two and getting ready for delivery. After the baby arrives, you can learn about the basics of newborn care, understanding a baby’s cry and caring for yourself.

Taking classes offers another benefit too. With each class, you earn points to purchase items for your baby such as cribs, car-seats, highchairs and many more items. All of our items are donated and either new or in slightly used condition. It’s one more way we can support you in your parenting journey.

Finally, we’ll help you locate other available services and pregnancy resources in our area. The Pregnancy Care Center specializes in helping you find and utilize existing community resources so you receive the care you need.

Remember, all services at The Pregnancy Care Center are confidential and free regardless of your income or where you live.
