After receiving a positive pregnancy test at Petoskey Pregnancy Care Center, your optimal next step is to receive an ultrasound. Through this service, we can confirm the gestational age and viability of your pregnancy. Contact us if you believe that you are pregnant, and we can provide pregnancy testing followed by an ultrasound.

What do ultrasounds do?

Ultrasound utilizes high-frequency sound waves that allow you to see inside the uterus, determine the fetal heartbeat, and see how many weeks along you are in your pregnancy. An ultrasound can also reveal the possibility that you may miscarry or have an ectopic pregnancy. It is incredibly important to identify this risk right away due to the life-threatening nature of an ectopic pregnancy.

Why do I need an ultrasound?

The only accurate way to confirm the viability of your pregnancy is through an ultrasound. Ultrasound testing is vital prior to making your decision. If you are wanting an abortion, you need to obtain an accurate proof of pregnancy and learn how far along you are to determine which procedure must be used.

Ultrasounds provide necessary information on the timing of the pregnancy so that you can make a more informed decision. If you are considering abortion, an ultrasound allows you to understand if a medical abortion is available (only available within the first 9 weeks), or if a surgical abortion is required.
